German footage of Panzers of General Heinz Guderian's 2nd Panzer Army south of Moscow in the general vicinity of Venyov, Tula, late November 1941. They are on the main highway to the center of Moscow, which is about 180 km away to the north. Guderian is advancing from the south because Hitler had diverted the 2nd Panzer Group (later Army) to help encircle Kyiv - one of the prime reasons why the Germans failed to take Moscow before the harsh winter weather. This was the last gasp of the Wehrmacht advance toward the Soviet capital, which stalled around the time this was taken. About two weeks after this, the Red Army counterattacked and Guderian's troops barely escaped back to the main German lines to the west. This is captured German footage.
